    Common questions

    Captained sails, answered.

Do you offer captained sailing charters on Lake Travis?+

Yes, Texas Sailing has been running professional captained sailing charters on Lake Travis since 1965. Sunset sails, daytime charters, special-occasion sails, and corporate group events are all available.

How much does a captained sailing charter cost?+

Sunset sails (2 hrs) are $300 plus $50 per guest. Daytime charters are $300 for 2 hours or $400 for 4 hours, plus $50 per guest. Corporate charters are $800 per boat plus $500 for a committee boat, with a 20% captain gratuity applied automatically. Special-occasion sails are priced based on duration and requirements, call us and we'll put together the right package.

How many people can come on a captained charter?+

Our charter sailboats comfortably hold up to 12 guests. For larger groups we coordinate multiple boats and can host up to 60 guests comfortably.

Do I need any sailing experience to book a captained charter?+

No experience needed. A professional captain runs the boat from the dock and back. You just bring your group, your snacks, and your playlist.

What happens if the weather is bad?+

Safety wins, every time. If your captain cancels for weather, lightning, or unsafe wind, you reschedule for free, no fine print, no rebooking fees. Light rain or overcast skies usually don't cancel a sail; some of the most dramatic Lake Travis sunsets happen on partly cloudy evenings. Your safety and your experience always come first.
